© Linda Plaisted New series based on an age-old preoccupation, featuring my photographs, vintage pin-ups and textures from my paintings. Boxed in and highlighted by the square frame (TV screen, monitor, magazine, calendar) of our societal voyeuristic obsession, the curves and connotations of the female form are as compelling as ever. The lines lead the eye along a sinuous path and the colors make it difficult to look away. The youthful female form is eternally fun and fresh and fascinating. I am alternately intrigued and disturbed by the sight of female mannequins trunkated to the torso, reducing them to their representative functions. This headless and often limbless form is replicated in classic pin-up and modern porn images. Woman as sum of her parts. What do these images mean to you?
