Ancient Egyptian art is universally known and admired. Millions of visitors travel every year to eyewitness the magnificent representations of ancient Egyptian life and beliefs done by master craftsmen on tomb walls, temples and papyrus. I have created these replicas of ancient Egyptian paintings to get a hands on experience to the technique and refined taste of these ancient artists, mostly anonymous individuals who had to work under strict rules of form and subject matter. On the other hand, in my original paintings in this style, I work like an artist free of the constraints that the pharaohs imposed on the Egyptian artist and explore themes more familiar with our present times.
