This series of paintings, dubbed the “shoebox project” was originally published in The Surfer’s Journal (Vol. 17, #3). Each painting is inspired by a photograph pulled from a different surfer’s “shoebox” stash of personal surf photos when asked for a photo that captured the essence of what surfing means to them. So there you have it, this is not my vision of surfing, but theirs.
