I have been told that my work is graphic. My mother is a graphic artist and I grew up watching her design logos and illustrate promo pieces. She use to talk about negative space, and the design elements, of line, form, color, etc... Maybe I picked up some of her aesthetic and training by osmosis. I've always thought of my camera as the "brush" and the light as the "paint", together forming the ideal media for working with design because the viewfinder frames everything neatly and succinctly. You start seeing lines and geometric forms in practically everything. Photography is one of the primary visual forms in our modern world and it's range of influence is vast. We are so saturated with it that the best thing a young photographer can do is find out where his/her eye is pushing the limit of what we already see every day.
