Glacier is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful of the national parks. Almost untouched wilderness and abundant wildlife await hikers who enter its backcountry. Both this year and last year I spent a month hiking and camping in Glacier's backcountry from late September through October, the time of year when the first snowstorms arrive and there are more bears than people in most parts of the park.
