Vytautas Pliura grew up on a farm in Central Illinois, raising angus cattle, corn and soybeans. In 1973, he moved to Los Angeles to attend UCLA, earning a bachelors degree in fine arts, specializing in motion picture production.
Vytautas' visual work includes landscapes and scenes from the farm in watercolors, as well as drawing cartoons. He was also a published poet. “Making art gives me a relief that I can’t find anywhere else,” he said. “It’s like a steam valve that allows me to let the pressure out of the pressure cooker.”
Vytautas passed away on March 30, 2011, leaving an amazing legacy of artwork and poetry.
