This fall has been strange, leaf-wise, with an early frost killing off many oaks and others early - before they had a chance to change color. They just sort of fell off the trees with a thud. But finally, the maples were in full flower and it stopped raining. However, I have enough golden yellow tree shots to last a while and, frankly, one fall's worth isn't much different than another's. Take that back. The bushes and lower brush were filled with spectacular color. And since many have commented on how my photos looked like paintings, I began to see these photos strictly as wildly colorful paintings. Sort of non-abstract abstractions, if you will. I've even added a touch of film grain to enhance the effect. Of course, they look better enlarged to about 10 x 14 - or even bigger; in any case, they're pretty neat.
