The small town of D'hanis, Texas has a brickyard that has been making this distinctive Red brick for over 100 years. When I stopped by to take a look, iI had the pleasure of talking to the "Fireman" for the Brickyard. This gentleman has been firing Bricks in these old Kilns for several years. He was fighting to maintain "The old ways." Sometimes the old ways are best.
