Pencil and ink drawing on paper has been my favorite activity all my life. Apparently the ability to draw is a family trait, as other family members also have it.
Pencil/ ink drawing on paper is basic to art: It is both a starting and end point. Black and gray and the absence of both (white?) are so expressive that all forms of art resort to that combination at some time in order to convey certain moods or perceptions.
This series uses the pencil/ink on paper motif for it's own aesthetic. While it's true of all two dimensional art, in this pencil/ink series the viewers', and by extension the viewers' cerebral contribution, is critical to the understanding of the drawn figures. Often the drawn figure is no more than several lines merely suggesting a pose or an action, necessitating the viewers' perception to complete the image.
