Description West Indian Tufted Air Plant. An unusual bromeliad growing on the ground and in the branches of trees in the Florida everglades. It uses the red tip to summons humming birds and butterflies to the white flowers which open beneath.
Penrith Goff, Northville, MI Member Since August 2009 Artist Statement I have been a weekend dabbler for many years and always fascinated by the tropical flora that we see so little of in the North. In recent years I have focussed on bromeliads, a New World family whose extreme diversity of color, form, and bizarre patterns is matched by no other plant family. My medium of choice is the colored pencil for its accuracy but I do make use of other media for special effects. Welcome to my gallery! I hope you like what you see.
