I took this image, along with several hundred others, as it was raining, a wonderful light misty gentle rain, and the soft natural colours in midday light are enchanting. I brought home many cuttings for my garden given to me by the generous owner of this beautiful tree. At this time I have collected many colour varieties of the lovely Plumeria here on Maui, and of them all, this one is my favourite. It is so beautiful. Here on Maui we are so blessed to enjoy summer year round. Yet, the rainy season we know as Spring occurs in the Hawaiian Islands in February March April May and sometimes upcountry in the first weeks of June. Then we enter consistently warmer dryer Summer months in July through November, at which time we enter cooler Winter months with wind . stormy weather and high surf, when the magnificent Humpback Whales make their annual migration and return from Alaska to Hawaiian waters to breed and calf, remaining here through May of the following year. Along the coastal regions on Maui Plumeria bloom year round in the warmer climates at sea level. Upcountry where we experience colder nights during the Winter season, they often drop their leaves completely and begin blooming once again in late February and March depending upon the elevation and the amount of sunlight they receive each day. Those trees which are in shade being blocked by a building or other structure bloom later.. The Plumeria are at their peak of colour and most beautiful in our Spring weather.Copyright 2015 Sharon Mau - All Rights Reservedhttp://www.sharon-m
