Description A strange hidden ying yang image. Goldfish, mutant sunflowers, bone wings, old archways, a random hand and indian woman with huge boss of the plains hat? No wonder I called it 'Hell if I know.'
C S Member Since November 2008 Artist Statement I created my first drawing on the side of my clothes dresser with a screwdriver. I was five. And I haven't stopped looking for new ways to share visual ideas or raise people’s eyebrows with my art.
At 10, I won an award for designing the logo of a children's art show at the Heard Museum in Phoenix. At 18, I was the first production artist hired at a local art production house, Phoenix Art Press. But the company's artistic assembly line and furniture-art mentality clashed with my interests. I wanted to make art that said something, that told a story.
After spending a short time in Boston, during the mid-1990s, I decided to get a degree. In 1999, I received an Associates degree in visual Communication and began designing websites. By 2000, I was produced illustrations and two comic strips for an underground ’zine. At the prodding of a few friends I began joining art shows. In 2001, I received the Viewers' Choice Award at the Alwun House Exotic art show. I have had several successful local gallery showings since then.
In 2004, I went to South America and stayed a year, spending most of my time in Lima, Peru. I returned home to help with family, and began doing more art shows.
To date, I have been the art director, photographer and illustrator for a local magazine over the last six years, and won three design awards for my cover designs and article spreads (2005, 2006 and 2007). Now I am looking to take my art career to a higher level. I hope you enjoy my work and I hope you decide to purchase a piece of your own. Thank you!
