Description Constructed in the 13th century Hook Head lighthouse is one of the oldest operational lighthouses in the world. Oliver Cromwell declared when he was drawing up plans to attack the port city of Waterford in the 17th century that he would take the city either by “Hook or by Crook” hence they saying (Hook head being on one side of the town and Crook head being on the other”). It is located in County Wexford. Beautiful Photos of Ireland
John Quinn, County Clare, Ireland Member Since May 2007 Artist Statement I'm a part time landscape photographer from and living in county Clare. I grew up on a farm near Corofin village and am currently living nearby. At an early age I developed a passion for photography and for the beauty of nature and the Irish countryside. I travel a lot throughout Ireland photographing and researching the history of Ireland's countless beautiful ruined churches, castles and monuments.
