Description Inspired by C.S. Lewis 'The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe,' and his character Aslan, this art composite is a surreal vision of the hope and healing that Jesus Christ offers us in this life and the next.
Karen Gladys Henry, Florida Member Since August 2007 Artist Statement I've loved art ever since childhood, and a huge box of Crayolas was an absolute necessity in my life. Now that my own children are grown and have babies of their own, I have time to pursue art once again.
I grew up in New Jersey, so the occasional trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim in New York City were indispensible facets of my training in aesthetics. Although I have no formal training in art, photography or digital art, I am not self-taught. I am constantly being taught and challenged by the artists around me, and by the Spirit of God. As I am still a beginner with paint, I have been experimenting with digital art. I've discovered that my surrealist bent is served well by Photoshop!
Some of my photographs have been enhanced, and some have not. Most of my "photo paintings" started as my own original photographs. My photo composites often include the images by other photographers, most of which were licensed through Dreamstime.com; all are used by permission.
I have included the address of my art blog, where you can read detailed descriptions of some of my composites (I'm still catching up!). If you're interested in understanding the symbolism of my work, this is where to go.
I hope you enjoy my offerings here. If you see anything in my Flickr photostream (search for ArteZoe) that you would like printed, and you don't find it here, please email and let me know. I don't post my high resolution photos there, but I can upload them here for you to purchase.
Art creates a resonance between one spirit and another. May you find art, here or elsewhere, that makes your heart sing!
