Artist Statement Landscape Architect Edward Walker lives near Cooperstown, New York on 20 acres overlooking Otsego Lake (aka "Glimmerglass") - WALKER STUDIO compliments my professional firm WALKER PLANNING & DESIGN which provides consulting site design & community planning services in central New York state. My intent as a landscape artist is to capture the intangible interplay of sunlight & colorful a graphic artist I look to make finely rendered line drawings + a story line of some sort...people, places, things in motion. I want to arrest a moment & hope to achieve arresting images that hold your eye and command your consideration.

As an artist I am drawn to classic themes and masters. I am uninterested in "style" or "schools" per se, rather I am seeking to express an emotional feeling in my drawings and paintings, that is original and truthful. Masters I admire: Cezanne; Homer; Whistler; Manet; Hopper; Zbukvic, Joseph. Recent works marry text with graphic images -either as mini-artist book format or poster format. I am also at work on a series of limited edition folios of mixed media work.
