DescriptionThis is a 'study' of an upcoming John Lennon silk screen painting I have planned. I liked this study so much I decided to offer it up as a limited edition print...so get it while it's available!
Jonathon Kimbrell, Dallas, TX Member Since December 2007 Artist Statement Jonathon Kimbrell was born in Houston, Texas in 1981, and relocated to West Texas at age 11. It was there he discovered all things art: Blues and Rock N' Roll Music, comic books, hot rods and pinup girls. Kimbrell graduated from McMurry University, a small, private school with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art, with a focus on painting, design and photography.
Knowing the John Wayne-loving west had nothing left to offer Kimbrell and his creative talents, he established residency in Dallas, TX in 2004, where he currently resides, branding his own art and design under the 'Napkin Art Studios' moniker. Since then, Kimbrell has become a known force throughout the United States in various galleries and private art collections, including major players in the film and music industries, and has recently acquired numerous collectors in both Europe and Asia.
In addition to being a working artist, Kimbrell moonlights as the Arts Director for The Soda Gallery, a one of a kind specialty soda shop and art gallery in the heart of the Bishop Arts District of Dallas, TX. He is also in the process of launching Telephone Print Company, a unique brand specializing in limited edition custom-printed apparel and gig posters for bands and art galleries alike.
Kimbrell sites his most important artistic influences as Bob Dylan, The Beatles, The Velvet Underground, The Who, The Clash, Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenburg, Roy Lichtenstein and Ed Ruscha, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, the amazing Stan Lee, classic cars, bombshell pin-up girls, tattooed babes, WWII and Cold War-era propaganda art, and classic Hollywood cinema...not to mention his family.
If you want to get on Kimbrell's good side, just take him out for a cold beer and a plate of hot and spicy BBQ.
