Soniei's Contemporary Art, Nova Scotia Member Since May 2009 Artist Statement I'm Soniei (pronounced sO.nE.A) and I was raised in Clare, a small Acadian-French community in Nova Scotia, Canada. For the past 12 years, I've called both Clare and Halifax (NS) my home.
I started taking drawing and painting lessons at the age of six and I always dreamed of one day becoming an artist. I didn't always have time to paint while growing up because I started traveling as a traditional Acadian dancer at the age of 12. By the age of 16, I began touring as a guitarist and singer as well. Soon after, I was getting my Bachelor of Arts, taught english in Japan, and went back to college for another diploma (Programmer Analyst / Internet Solutions Developer). My education in IT really opened the door for me to start my small online art business, "Soniei's Contemporary Art".
I've been painting contemporary Japanese art for 9 years now. Although I love this job with a passion, I recently found something I love even more than painting. I never thought I'd see the day! That thing is 3D art for video games. It combines my love for art, computers and video games!!!
I'm just an ever-evolving artist who's looking for a balance between my creativity and ... well... my geekiness.
