Description 24x12 original acrylic painting on canvas wrap-around style of Hanalei Bay in Kauai. It doesn't take much to be instantly inspired after witnessing (and taking many photos) the mind blowing beauty of this Hawaiian island which is a sportsman paradise and not so commercialized. We visited in June when the waves are typically smaller on the north side of the island while the south has larger swells for surfing. In the painting I tried capturing the distant Napali mountains that look very bluish/magenta with clouds settled on top and increase color values and brightness closer to the beach during mid day. Needless to say, I was in paradise as a rookie surfing in the aqua sea. In winter the waves can reach epic size and thus is a surfer paradise with a backdrop that is hard to beat. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did painting it...
Chad Berglund, Frisco Member Since February 2013 Artist Statement My name is Chad Berglund and I am fine artist from Frisco,TX who started painting early 2012. IT engineer by day and artist by weekend and necessity.
My current weapon of choice is acrylic paint on stretched canvas in what would be a realism and/or impressionistic style. I focus on trying to create colorful and bold interpretations of life, travel, and still life subject matter that move me in some way. Light-hearted, positive, bold and no shortage of color which also would be close to describing my personality.
