Amber Beidatsch, Reno Member Since May 2007 Artist Statement Born in San Antonio and raised in the Texas Hill Country, I have been fascinated by nature all of my life. One year in San Antonio, I was able to shoot a wonderful season of my beloved Texas wildflowers. I create as an attempt to capture the spirit of beauty. Earlier in my life, I expressed my artistic tendencies by creating abstract posters, and painting flowerpots to give as gifts. I am currently focusing more on photography, but I still paint.
I received a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Northridge in religious studies and began working as an administrative assistant, then worked my way up and through several positions including executive secretary for the Reno Housing Authority. After bouncing between California and Texas several times, I settled for now in Reno where I live with my husband, Tom, our dog, Lucy and our cat, Rat.
I have always been fascinated by colors, especially deep rich colors and the contrast with light. Eventually, I discovered the best examples of both are found in nature. Occasionally I am lucky enough to capture images of these differences. Finding new ways to see through my camera excites me and engulfs my senses to the exclusion of the rest of the world.
While the immediate area we live in is beautiful, our affinity for day trips often leads to the discovery of even more awe-inspiring beauty nearby. Currently I use my free time to promote my photography both online and off. My aim is to capture images of nature, at one moment in time. I want to take that moment of nature, which is not easily repeatable, and share it with others.
