Description The simple yet powerful shapes and values and late afternoon light glow give this scene a a depth and atmosphere that is far more subtle than might be expected from such a prosaic subject. The power and simplicity carries the story of the working man that keeps American homes operating day in and out.The original of the piece is a plein air acrylic painting that was finished in the studio on 12'X9' panel.
Kellam Brown, Plano, TX Member Since May 2007 Artist Statement For 40 years my profession has been software engineering and my avocation has been art. Now that is reversed. I began painting and "went pro" about 5 years ago. I've earned an AAA and am working on an MFA in illustration through the Academy of Art University in San Francisco (on-line). Since summer 2007 I've been teaching life drawing and pastel painting at the Art Institute in Dallas; I've found that I really enjoy teaching - at least in the college environment, and intend to make teaching my second career.
I participate in local and national art shows and competitions as well group and solo shows in the Dallas - Ft Worth area of Texas.
