Description : Lily Orientalis was published in the November-December, 2008 issue of Cloth, Paper, Scissors, a national art magazine. This award-winning, striking, and intricately layered fabric collage was inspired by the first lily of the season to bloom in my HV garden. The first one is always the most exciting, the most special to me.
Susan Minier, Highland Mills, NY Member Since May 2010 Artist Statement Characteristic of Susan Minier’s unique style, her collages have been described as beautiful, vibrant and engaging, they are a harmonious blending of abstract and decorative art.
Since 1994, she has been working mainly with snippets of richly-hued fabric. The fabric is layered and fused to create striking, textured landscapes, flowers, trees, and houses.
Susan is inspired by photography, travel memories, decorative art, and the patterns, colors, and textures of the landscape--ordered and chaotic, real and imagined.
“I wish for the viewer to be as excited by the colors, textures and detail as I am when the artwork is coming to life. My intent is to captivate the viewer-- delighting the eye and lifting the spirit.”—Susan Minier.
