Description The living-room has to have books and puzzles, bubbles and a grandfather clock. And a fireplace and a working train. And a hot-air balloon. And sheep on a meadow. And a magic carpet and several impossible creatures and maybe some modern art, but not too much of that. Oh, and a hammock and a fireplace, some pink lemonade and some wine. And good lighting and an observatory and some comfy furniture you can put your feet up on. That's a good living-room.
Genevieve Shapiro, Boston, MA, USA Member Since March 2007 Artist Statement I'm a 6-foot-tall illustrator, cartoonist, and painter.
My first cartoon strip ran in the Quaker music-camp newsletter i attended, and from there i graduated to doodling in the margins of my algebra textbook and on my jeans, which was the springboard to selling airbrushed clothing for a few years in farmers' markets and at malls, and now my cartoons run in the Foreign Service journal, and embassy newsletters. You can see my cartoons and read my comic novellas for free at gentoons.com and at many other sites around the web. I also design CD covers for ZBS.org which is one place that knows how to show your ears a good time. check 'em out if you like radio plays and topnotch storytelling!
Illustrations and paintings, now...i have an idee fixe with cities and factories. i love tiny little detailed illustrations of gizmos and thingamajigs. How are doughnuts and bras and cars made? how many kitchen fairies are hard at work with us while we make dinner? the insides and outsides of our lives are a kaleidoscope of color and shape and humor. let me show you.
