Description These hand-made wooden buoys for New England lobster traps are a dying practical art form so most of them around are already antiques. They are like brands for the lobster fishermen and marked their fishing territory. The traps remain where they are placed. They are checked for lobster and then returned to the water. This is one of a number of shots I gleaned from our trip to Cape Cod in 2010, specifically Marthas Vinyard. Between you and me I didnt think the place lived up to the hype. I think the island is of higher value to the wealthy and famous who live there because of the relative isolation and the way their privacy seems to be respected.
