Description Sunbleached corner in downtown Galveston. When Hurricane Ike blew through Galveston in 2008, it did horrendous damage to the landscape but this poor palm survived. I spent my entire life going to Galveston. It was about a 50-mile trip from Houston. My grandfather (my painter mentor) used to ride his bicycle there. He never seemed that athletic to me but he made the ride more than once.
Melinda Patrick, Magnolia, Texas Member Since August 2008 Artist Statement My paintings are intended to be eye candy. They are meant to grab the eye and entertain it with color and form and geometry. I’m drawn to imagery of my native Houston, Texas and my paintings are usually a snapshot of what I see around me.
I have a BFA from the College of the San Francisco Art Institute and have been working as a graphic artist/designer for over 30 years.
