Description This picture was created using the stippling technique with pen and ink. The Indian maiden is watching the geese fly over, bear images are in the rocks. The sunset is especially brilliant, coloring the water.
Judy Newcomb, Pueblo West Member Since March 2010 Artist Statement I have drawn all of my life! I worked with oil, watercolor and finally ink and I love it! The method I use is stippling, which is where I apply marks (dots) by hand using a magnifing glass. It takes me about 250 hours to complete, for a large picture but I truly enjoy this medium.
I studied art at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. My husband, Alan, and I then moved to California where I continued my studies. There was a pause in my drawing when I raised my children, but picked it right back up as soon as I could. Now I have my puppy, Tickles, to take care of, however, she enjoys watching me draw!
