This image contains a poem I wrote when my doctors told me there was nothing more they could do, and I was going to die. It expresses my frustration at not being able to care for my family as I would like and my determination to enjoy what I can while I have the chance. My health has been better than expected so maybe I shall stay around a while yet.
Making hay in the sun that shines
Against an iron black sky
Taking what I can before it breaks,
Leaving later harvests to unpractised hands to try,
Trusting them to learn from their mistakes.
What I can do I will,
What I have I leave
To help them make their shelter safe and warm.
But they must shutter ther own windows,
Against the winds that blow,
I won't be there to help them face the storm.
