DescriptionIn the Sahara of southern Morocco, we journeyed into the desert during the golden glow before sunset. Our Tuareg guide walked perfectly in step with our camel - slow and steady, both of them used to years of desert travel. Looking back over our tracks, I was struck by the poetic symmetry: man and camel, walking together, into the desert.
Allison Shapira, Boston Member Since January 2011 Artist Statement I am inspired by the beauty that exists all around us. From the way the sun shines on a line of laundry in a Berber village in Morocco to a vivid reflection caught in a small puddle of water on a Cambridge side street, life presents ironic, wistful, and breathlessly beautiful moments. My goal is to capture those moments on camera.
Originally from Connecticut, I grew up in Sarasota, Florida and later moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where I have lived and worked for the past 10 years.
In addition to taking pictures, I sing opera and folk music, dance as often as I can, teach public speaking, snowboard, play ultimate Frisbee and climb rocks.
