Allah in the name of The Most Affectionate, the Merciful. Glorified (and Exalted) is He (Allâh) Who took His slave (Muhammad {{Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam} for a Journey by Night from Al Masjid Al Harâm (at Makkah) to Al Masjid Al Aqsa (in Jerusalem), the neighbourhood whereof We have blessed, in order that We might show Him (Muhammad {Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam}of Our Ayât's ( signs). Verily, He is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer. With these eternal verses, Allaah {Subhaanuhu wa Ta’aala}, stated in, the Qur'an, the never diminishing significance of Masjid al-Qubbatus-Sakhra (The Dome of the Rock} in Jerusalem. In the centre of Bait Ul Muqaddas (Dome of the rock) is a stone slab. ALLAH { Subhaanuhu wa Ta’aalaa}made this our first Qibla, Prophet Muhammad {Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam}and his followers perform Salâh for 16 months towards the Al Masjid Al Aqsa, until the Qiblah was changed towards the Kaa'bah in Makkah. MAQAAM A SAKHRA was the QIBLA of many PROPHETS including Hazrath Dawood, Hazrath Suleiman, Hazrath Moosa,Hazrath Ilyas, and Hazrath Ibraheem {Alaiehis-Salaam}, to name a few. Masjid al-Qubbatus-Sakhra is where our Prophet Muhammad {Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam} journeyed at night in a miraculous manner from the city of Makkah, where his call to Islam (submission to God) was still in its earliest stages. At Masjid al-Qubbatus-Sakhra , he led all of the prophets of Allaah that came before him in prayer and then ascended to heaven to receive Allaah's {Subhaanuhu wa Ta’aalaa } command to the Muslims to pray five times a day. Masjid al-Qubbatus-Sakhra and the city of Jerusalem have been very special to Muslims all over the world.
