I've always been artistic. I remember spending lots of recesses in grade school inside drawing animals; I don't think there was ever a moment where I considered being anything other than an artist when I grew up...
I dabbled in many artistic mediums during my college years - drawing, painting, sculpture, pottery..... However, I've declared photography my medium of choice for its immediacy and manipulation potential. I've fairly recently discovered the technique of using a flatbed scanner to capture the abstract patterns within fruit, vegetables, & flowers, and for minute detail such as the scales on butterfly wings. I also have plans to incorporate fractal designs (visual representations of mathematical algorithms) into my work, and will begin painting again soon. My unique image of the snails, for example, would be incredible as a very large acrylic painting on canvas with whimsical flourishes. I am always thinking of new directions/styles that I can go in as I get bored easily...my mind is always creatively working.
My day job is photo retouching, doing headshots and beauty/fashion work. I currently have all the work I can currently handle. Well, unless you really, really need genius retouching and insist on paying me a kajillion dollars.....=D

Here is my blog as well: The Neen Manifesto It's a brand new blog, so I haven't started posting yet, but I promise to have lots of fascinating content soon as I have just spent a day at the Denver art museum and am very inspired. =)
Some of my other favorite things/hobbies include:
** studying nutrition (I am a near-vegan for health reasons, and an aspiring raw foodist)
** bicycling; I've got my eye on a black and gold gas-powered bicycle styled like a chopper motorcycle
** reading about cob house construction, especially popular in England, Oregon and British Columbia (basically, sculptural mud/straw hobbit-style homes)
** the unique and wonderful food items found in Asian grocery stores.....Thai
coconuts and Japanese rice cakes are a couple of favorites
** making friends with wildlife (I have walked a tiger on a leash, fed baby raccoons
from bottles, hung out with a vulture named Igor, and currently own 9 tarantulas)
** being divinely forgiven for my bad, all-too human thoughts and actions throughout my life by the God who made me, and longing for the day when my savior Jesus will reign as king of the world from Jerusalem and everything that's wrong with the world will be fixed. Yes, I really do believe this, I take the Bible seriously, and literally when it makes sense to. It's a huge comfort to know who I belong to. =)
** learning from Biblical scholar Chuck Missler, it's fascinating stuff!
** listening to foreign music such as Angelique Kidjo and Tiziano Ferro, and some Christian rap (it's surprisingly cool!)
** listening to classic literature in audio form...like Dracula, stories by H.G. Wells, and Kafka's The Metamorphosis
** collecting antique and vintage cameras from all eras, and vintage dresses from
the 1960's and 1970's
** the three months I spent living out of my minivan in Cody, Wyoming. The first night, I parked it down by the river. =D That locale is highly overrated though...the mosquitoes were horrible! (This whole story is a future blog post...stay tuned.)
Thanks for reading my page and your interest in my work. Have a great day!
