Rick Lawler's philosophy is simple: Photography is a personal vision of the real world; it becomes art when that personal vision strikes a universal cord. While Lawler's photographic images are digital, they are very seldom manipulated beyond correction adjustments and cropping. Lawler does not use computer generated "tricks" to change or alter the basic structure of the image. What you see inside the frame is what Lawler saw through his viewfinder. Rarely he will remove an errant utility line or other minor distraction. For his more "artistic" side, Lawler has a gallery (Drawflies) dedicated to digital photographic images manipulated into paintings. These are clearly identified as altered digital photographs. Award-winning photographer and writer, Rick Lawler is the author of "Whidbey: My Eye" a full-color photo book about Whidbey Island, Washington. He also just recently published "Island Time" a 2008 calendar/scheduler featuring full-color photos of Whidbey Island, Washington. Lawler is also the author of "Owner to Owner: Guide to WorldMark Ownership" which has, to date, sold over 75,000 copies. He resides in Oak Harbor, Washington on beautiful Whidbey Island, with his wife and two children.
