I am a first generation Latvian Canadian born in Hamilton, Canada over 50 years ago. I am married with two grown living children and one who was lost to cancer over seven years ago. My educational background is engineering and business with a 30 year interest in photography.
Ten years ago I was hired by several artists to implement the startup of a non-profit art company. The company was called Frielingsdorf Non-Profit: loosely translated as "free people's village". I spent several years learning the art business and honing my photographic skills.
My gallery, known as "char", was my first work that was shown publicly. Char was a young woman who was a developing artist in the company. In 1999, she was brutally murdered. This gallery was taken several months before her death. These are the only nude photographs ever taken of her.
She and her lover were bludgeoned to death by an unknown assailant. Her three year old son was found wandering the street in front of her apartment early the following morning. It is still unknown what he saw that night!
The murderer was finally caught in 2007. It was a total random act of violence! He had no known connection to Char or her partner!
The original photographs were taken with a Ricoh XR-20sp Program film camera mostly loaded with Kodak TMax p3200 film and a few shots with ASA400 film.
I continue in the business of art, photography and business development.
