Julian Hsiung

Julian Hisung is a New York - based self taught artist who specializes in painting portraits. Born in Beijing China, and raised in Taichung, Taiwan, Hsiung was not exposed to Western culture until later. In the mid of 1960s, he discovered Western magzines, and that fojrever changed how he saw the world around him. Through those magzines, he became enamored by fashion photographs and contemporary art. Eventually, he moved to New York, where he could submerge himself in his passions.

From the late 70s until May 2008, Hsiung worked in the fashion industry. After dabbling in painting in 1979 & 1980, he officially set up an artiest`s studio in Dumbo, New York, in August 2007.
