Joe Hoksbergen

My work is influenced by a variety of sources. I grew up on a farm in Southern Iowa. There I learned the value of diligence and hard work but I also discovered a secret joy in escaping into my own imagination, dreaming up creatures and places and stories. I can recall many times in which I missed raking a row of hay because I was too deep in thought.
I find inspiration all around me... the weather... the Iowa landscape... my students... my wife and child... my faith. I consider myself blessed to be surrounded by so much that can excite my creativity.
