Back when I was in Boston, I told my husband I was going to become an artist when I retired. He looked at doubtfully, but he has been extremely supportive.. Picture Gramma Moses, not me. That is what I figured, someday far far in the future I would again take up one of the passions of my childhood, art and in particular painting. Hey how did that happen? Well when I became a statistic of the recession aka became unemployed back in Fall of 2008, I did start painting. I think it was more to keep me busy as I as used to working everyday. Then I started taking some classes. Also the clinical chemist part of me became extremely intrigued with the science and chemistry of watercolor painting. It took me back to my Med Tech days, spectrophotometry and all the marvelous interactions of color and light. It was exciting to think that not only could these principles of light be used in an analytical manner, but watercolor paints for me became the fusion of aesthetics and science. I felt like all the chemistry and technology in my background and experience was manifesting in my art The emotions and expressions of my soul were coming out the paint brush and onto the paper.I was content with the satisfaction it gave me but then I won first place in an art exhibit and actually sold the winning painting. So I'm going for it. I'm now a full time artist and like Monet when he started not famous -- yet!
