Making art used to seem very magical to me when I was a child as I watched my sisters draw. Out of nowhere they would conjure up beautiful images as they took an ordinary pencil and moved it across a simple piece of paper. The funny thing is that making art is still magical to me even when I do it today. I never grew up in this way. I don’t know where the ideas come form, why some images work and other will not come to life. Each time I start to make something I feel that fear that nothing with come out, and I am often right if I expect to exert total control. Art has a mind and a form of its own that waits for someone to release it.
Many of my pieces are of a religious nature, and those that are not strictly religious tend to be very feminine. I get inspiration form my life experiences, what it means for me to be a woman, what I am dealing with, what I long for, and what I dream about, and most importantly my connection to God.
In making my artwork, I have gained deep healing and an inner strength. My desire is to pass that on to who ever views my images.
