I was born in Birmingham, AL and moved to the metro Atlanta area when I was pretty young. Growing up in the south has been an interesting mix of deep culture, deep roots, and intense turmoil. Spending time in California during the summers to visit my dad offered a different perspective. As a result, I've moved away and back home several times. However, am here to stay in the south for a long time.

Spending time in California during the summers to visit my dad offered a different perspective. As a result, I've moved away and back home several times. However, am here to stay in the south for a long time.

I am fortunate to have a supporting husband and two beautiful children who inspire me everyday. I've always created art, but am finally putting some things together to branch into this new realm. Most of my art in the past couple of decades have consisted of demonstations for my high school students. Having the time to pursue who I am as an artist has aluded me from time to time. But I will continue to plug away at the thick walls of identity to discover my true self and hope I can convey some of it in my pieces. As a result, the majority of my work deals with degrees of balance. This new project of creating art as close to daily as possible is a great opportunity to work through the process I put my students through. I hope to have improved work and understanding of my artistic goals by next summer.
