I have been drawn to art (pun intended) since as early back as I can remember, as growing up I always preferred the crayons and paper to the toys in the toy-box. My education includes formal training in traditional fine arts, and I received my BFA in photography. I am also a self-taught as graphic and web designer, and currently run my own multi-service design and photography firm, Image ICU.
Over the years I've enjoyed just about every medium I've been able to get my hands on. Since my interests are equally varied, I also tend to work with a huge array of subject matter. As far as my process is concerned, I create and work with whatever happens to stir and/or concern me at the moment. Sometimes the concept is what rules me. Other times, it's just about the act of creating something beautiful. Most often however, my goal is to marry the two.
Although I am constantly taking pictures, lately I have also been dabbling a lot in digital montage. My earlier works typically combined several mediums (why just settle for one, right?); hand-assembled montages of painting, drawing, found elements, and photography. Because I have had to trade my studio space for office space, I have had to learn to make my computer itself the substitute for the time being. I have just recently reached the point where I am comfortable enough with the techniques I have discovered to finally return to the type of personal work that I had abandoned over a decade ago. It's been an exciting exploration, and it feels amazing to once more be creating pieces that are coming from the whole of me.
I hope that you enjoy my work on display here and at my professional body of work at Image ICU (linked from my profile). I only plan to continue to add pieces here as I move forward with this new way of working.
Please, feel free to get in touch anytime here at my Gallery or at my Image ICU online portfolio.
Namaste ~
