I enjoy making subjective translations of objective things, such as portraits or cityscapes. Using variation, distortion or symbols in recognizable subjects, allows for a more personal interpretation. I am particularly influenced by the work of El Greco, who manages to remain a uniquely “modern” artist, after 400 years. Like him, I am intrigued by the spiritual world and seek to find ways to express the flux and interaction between what is seen and unseen, material and transcendent.
