My paintings express my fascination with exploration, invention,
and mid-century design. Drawing from my sense of observation and vivid memory,
my style is contemporary, spontaneous and bold. I use graphic elements such as text and numbers to create whimsical and thought-provoking
images.
Born into a world of creativity, industrial design and invention, I was influenced at
an early age by the ideas and dreams of my father, who was on the design team that
developed the first space suit for the Mercury project in the late 1950’s. Introduced to
the way ideas and designs were expressed in two-dimensions, in the form of blueprints and
plans, before I was ten years old, instilled in me the desire to draw things and explore ideas and inventions
and what that looks like on paper and canvas.
In the early 60’s my parents sold practically everything they owned and piled me and my
siblings into a ‘62 Chevy station wagon and headed west in search of a better life. The journey
instilled in me a great love of road trips and travel in general, motivating me to travel
worldwide.
Recently in an effort to simplify my life as well as to shake up how I live and work I sold pretty much all that I owned keeping only what would fit comfortably into my Volvo and started to travel around the country and Europe painting and writing as I go adding new textures and layers to my work.
