THE AUTO-BIOGRAPHY OF CHICKS
I have been aspiring to be an artist since the age of 6.
Where my ECE Teacher notice my advanced reading ability, and Mother noticed my comprehension skills , were beyond my classmates.
This was when I was first noticed for my art ability. I was an honor roll student,Who recieved many nominations threw out my life.
That wa up until junior high school. When my life began to turn upside down and my grades where effected.Family drama was the root of it all.
I received honors and awards from then til age 17. I enjoyed drama class, wood shop, clay sculpting, water color, sketch and ink. Attending Clayton Art Institute 1996 ,Den;CO age 17,recieving three nominations to; The Art Instruction School 1995, MN age 16,and Denver University 1986 ; Den,CO age 7-8. I also enjoyed the 4-H garden club 1983 where I received an award for gardening.
Both my parents were educators my dad was flamboyant head coach Sayyid- Abdul Rahman age 22. My mother Celestine Hicks was a young machine operator age 17 and a Para-professional when they started dating. Dad was a friend of my mother’s oldest siblings. Once he got here (in the late 60's from Los Angeles, CA) that’s how they originally met.
I married into an abuse marriage at 17, and again at 18 my second marriage lasted 7yrs.I was 21 when I conceived my first child it was then that I left my husband went to a battered women’s facility, to find that my now ex-husband had managed to knock me up..... I was pregnant again and homless again when he was violated and went back to the pen... It was then I decided that it could not be this way, I needed a change we remained apart until divorcing in 2005.
I have no regrets at all except not knowing better having my babies is still the best thing I ever done. I got housing started my knew life with my then ill new born and my first daughter on the way before she was born went back to school to get my G.E.D, CNA Certificate, CPR, and First Aide I am also a volunteer for non-profits.
I was forced to forget my dream of one day being an RN and starting my own C.N.A pooldo to Domestic Violence . It was over as soon as it started. Accepted by the State Board of nursing, only cus my face looked like "Rhianna after Chris Brown". I never got to work much as a C.N.A I was charged, so my career never got to progress due to DV on criminal back ground in 1999.Where I was the pregent victim. I was denied for sevral 100 positions before I got tired of saying "It wasn't me", and hearing "No I am sorry".
I was the victim of physical, sexual, and emotional accused of a crime I never did. I was never in gangs, never violent, the nerd the wallflower, and at times the out cast - this broke my heart, I had to pled guilty because there was no resources to bail out with. I had to save my unborn child from miscarriage so I took the charges damaging my perfectly good name, after about a million no's for nursing jobs... gave up the fight for years but always volunteered my time, and took free class around town to better myself and am coming back out of the dark as of 2004.
I gave my life to God 2005 and went back to following my childhood dream of becoming an artist which brings us to the present. At this point in the game it about doing me , and what I love.
I am a Ai student going for my MAsters in Design
