Chihiro Yabe, whose first name means thousands of generous spirits" in Japanese, is an award winning fine-artist living in Boston, Massachusetts. After studying graphic design and oil painting in art college, Chihiro worked for an interior design company, later joining a housing exterior company as a professional perspective creator in Japan.
Chihiro decided to expand her career into the illustration arena, illustrating book covers, greeting cards, postcards and stationery most of which are on the market all over Japan. Her cards have gained wide recognition in her home country.
Her formal training in traditional fine art and oil painting becomes apparent upon viewing her work. Her style is best described as whimsical, painterly, playful, imaginative and harmonious; and lends itself to calendars, magazine covers, puzzles, packaging, posters, print collateral, wrapping paper, gift and novelty, coloring books, and kids publishing. Recently, she has been inspired by fairy tales as well as fantasy stories.
