I spent about 15 years as an Interior Decorator, while working a host of other jobs that actually paid the bills. In 2004, while working in Sales and Interior Design for a furniture showroom I was at the top of my game. I was top producer in the store in June and had kept spots in the upper ranks several other months. Then tragedy struck and we lost our home, and my design business, to a house fire. It destroyed everything, including my creativity. Eventually my sales took a slump and I was let go. I took it as a sign that I needed to be home with my family while we went through the 3 1/2 years of litigation associated with the fire.
Slowly my creative juices started flowing again (once I had a house to decorate again!), and I got back into the swing of things. But still needing to pay the bills I took a part time job selling headstones. Yes, Headstones. As it turned out, I loved it. Not only was I selling headstones I was designing them too. What better way to have your work seen than to have it carved in stone! Eventually part time turned into full time and I haven't looked back since. In the interim I also began managing the adjoining flower shop right next door and six days a week I'm here. I always say "It doesn't matter which door you walk in - you're getting me! Like it or not."
The flower shop lets me express some of my creativity and the monument shop, well that's a whole 'nother genre all together. But I love them both.
Something I found that helped pass the time though was doing graphic design work. I have to be here 6 days a week and when my work is done and no customers are around my time is free to do whatever I want with. So I started dabbling in graphic design, logos, branding, etc. and I also decided to take up photography again. In the digital age of photography there is so much I can do that I never could before. So you'll see a mix of what I'm all about on this site and hopefully you'll see some things you'll like. I do accept work by commissions and am open to almost any ideas.
I've been on about a dozen other sites like this for about a year now but just discovered this one yesterday. From what I've seen it's a very professional, high-end site and I think it will work well for my needs.
If you have ideas, suggestions or comments on what I can do to improve, I'm all ears. Feel free to drop me a line as I'm always open to feedback.
Thanks for checking out my work. Enjoy!
