Jiri KARLIK

I was born in 1952 in Havlickuv Brod in the Czech Republic. I graduated from technical college in Jihlava.

Since I was little I was interested in art and therefore I started to go to the art school. My first teacher who taught me how to paint was the academic painter Jan Juzl who was a student of famous academic painter Max Svabinsky. Also after these early teachings of the painting I become more like self-taught artist.

I painted a variety of art techniques such as tempera painting, oil painting, encaustic painting and action painting. Currently I am painting by chalk/oil.

In previous years I was also involved in wood carving from basswood.

Regarding to my creation of paintings there are predominantly scenery which incurred intuitively.
