Monika is teaching illustration at the School of Design in Mainz, Germany. She has been chosen as "young talent of the year" by Print Magazine/NY in 2000 and in 2008 the inflatables "Angry White Monkeys" she designed for Stefan Sagmeister got awarded as "Best of Show" by 3x3 /NY. She does illustrations for the New York Times, Time Magazine and Die Süddeutsche Zeitung, Universal-Music and Deutsche Grammophon, she designs bookcovers and does murals - many of her Illustrations are silkscreened.

Her work has been shown at Miami Art Basel, at Deitch Project/NY, in New York at the Art Directors Club, the Six-Cities-Design Festival in Scotland, at Centre Pompidou/Paris, Shanghai Art Museum, in Hamburg, Naples, Rom, Milano, London, Tokyo, Toronto, Lisbon and Barcelona.
