I'm a visual artist originally from Woodhaven, NY and currently based in Glendale, NY (both are in Queens for you folks that don't know), where I live with my husband and evil kitty. I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science & Art. Subsequently I've been working in various visual arts fields - photography, design and fine arts.

I've been creating art for as long as I can remember. If an object, scene or color strikes me, I feel the desire to possess that image through my own interpretation, whether it be painting, drawing, designing ...

I've been creating art for as long as I can remember. If an object, scene or color strikes me, I feel the desire to possess that image through my own interpretation, whether it be painting, drawing, designing digitally, printing, photography or any other version of working with my hands and eyes as a (hopefully somewhat) coordinated team. I love exploring and trying new techniques - sometimes it works, sometimes not.

My artwork is created for my own, and others' visual stimulation and pleasure. I believe that its profound in its own humble way, but I tend not to create anything with a political or social agenda. That's fine for others, but its just not me. To each their own, right?

I'm hoping that by uploading my imagery to Imagekind I can encourage a fan base and get the word out about my art. I'm not too faithful on updating my website - although I can do it if necessary, the visual art I know that's not for me is web building and web design. People can also become a fan on the Facebook page devoted to my artwork by doing a search on Facebook for "Denise Porthun Jankauskas Art." I don't believe its wrong to call myself a small business and try to make a living off of my creations - I'd rather be a full artist than a starving one.
