Description Black ink illustration combining the traditional memento mori designs of New England and Scotland. The skull psychopomp with the tree of life growing from it symbolizes rebirth. Everything must die, but life goes on.
Sarah Lawless, Pacific Northwest Member Since November 2010 Artist Statement I’m a folk magic practitioner with a focus in Scottish witchcraft and folk magic. I am a woodcarver, charm maker, wildcrafter, mead maker, healer, as well as a diviner and mystic. I live in the Pacific Northwest on my ever-green mountain in the rainforest. I started drawing and painting at a young age and went from finger paints to the wonderful world of watercolors, tempera, inks, clay, paper maché, and so many other mediums. Today I work mainly within the realms of textiles, woodcarving, and ink illustrations.
