Artist Statement Barbara Rose Brooker has an MA in English Literature and creative writing and a BFA in painting. She is a San Francisco native author, painter and journalist. Her novels have been published by William Morrow, currently Simon & Schuster, and other presses. Her new novel is about the art world and is in the process of being made into a TV series. In 1989, the author’s poetry was featured along with Maya Angelou, and other Pulitzer award-winning poets in She Rises Like The Sun, published by Crossing Press. Her paintings are in a wide range of collections in the United States.

She has had many gallery exhibits in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Hawaii, and her paintings are in many important collections in the US.
