DescriptionTrees glow brightly against the velvety dark landscape. Sometimes when working on an image some pretty wild color combinations emerge. This is one of them, however, I still think it retains some of the the quiet sophistication of the original. I've taken my quiet blue winter scene and inverted it with some fascinating results. The crisp white snow has become a rich deep plum color which has the look of velvet. The trees have come alive with brightly glowing warm colors, which has given them the appearance of being covered with lights. They're glowing so brightly that it might be possible to see them from space. No need for flashlights in this park!
Shawna Rowe Member Since July 2012 Artist Statement I grew up in a creative family who loved photography, music, art and random hiking adventures. That helped me to develop a love for nature and artistic expression early on. I've never limited myself to one particular medium but I do favor graphic shapes, bold colors and whimsical style. Whatever the medium, I try to include some or all of those elements in my work.
My family has always been a big inspiration and they feature in a series of satirical cartoons that I've done just for fun over the years. Each year I make a new cartoon to celebrate each of my daughter's birthdays. I've also made my own greeting cards for family members over the years.
Lately, I've been making detailed magazine collages. Each one is made of 100% recycled paper cut into tiny shapes and carefully applied much like paint onto canvas. It's an art-form that requires a lot of time and patience but I love this unusual way of creating. Thank you for visiting my gallery!
