Terry Klippenstein, Altona Member Since September 2007 Artist Statement When I was 20 years old, a growing curiosity about photography led to my purchase of a very cool Nikon FE. A few years later the discovery of Ansel Adams' methods and photography at the local library spurred the construction of my first wet darkroom. No bigger than a phone booth, it wasn't fancy but it did have a sink with running water. Watching photographs appear before my eyes was a magic that Photoshop will never match! However, when you hear your 4-year-old knocking on the darkroom door asking when you'll be done, you realize that the craft needs to take a back seat for a while. That decision eventually led me away into the digital realm. Between then and now, I've photographed weddings, portraits, commercial shoots and exhibited my personal work. While I prefer monochrome, my dominant character of my subjects determine their final format. I have been a member of the Buffalo Creek Artists collective for 5 years, and in that time I have displayed my work in 4 shows. That's part of my story. I'll let my images tell the rest. I welcome your comments.
