Artist Statement Born in Milwaukee, WI in 1965, Lucas Boyd began drawing and painting at the age of 2 and entering local shows by age 10. When he and his family moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1977 Lucas was encouraged at the age of 12 to take part in an annual art show held through the local Boys' Club's art program where he spent most of his time during the summer. His colorful illustrations were included in a national tour with a handful of other gifted young artists and helped him define what he had always known; he wanted to become a career artist and possessed the talent and drive to do so.

During his late teenage years Lucas began drawing detailed illustrations of tropical birds and owls for friends and family. He proved to be an excellent salesman by marketing and selling his works door to door when other kids his age were at home watching cartoons. Lucas has spent his adult years creating beautiful new images with his primary focus on his popular impressionistic figurative series. Lucas' work has been featured in numerous gallery showings and used commercially.
